What is Chinese Herbal Medicine?
Chinese Herbal medicine is the use of traditional Chinese plants, minerals, and some animal products to restore balance within the body's systems. Herbs are able to act upon the body as powerfully as pharmaceutical drugs, and directions given must be followed closely.
Chinese Herbs work best when used in conjunction with acupuncture, and Kiah has seen greater improvements and progress when these therapies are combined.
Each prescription is carefully chosen by Kiah in granule or pill form to suit your constitution and disease, meaning that every formula is completely holistic and individualised for you!
Traditionally, raw herbs would be decocted (cooked) and consumed. To make taking your medicines easier and less time consuming, they can be granulated. To make these types, raw herbs are decocted normally, then their concentrated extracts are drawn out and made in to granules, usually mixed with potato or corn starch. These are quick to take and easily dissolve in warm water.
Herbal pills are small, black or brown pills that are also easy to take daily. These are patent pills which provide the same treatment effects of granulated herbal formulas, but without the bitter taste that some patients may find a little strong.
